Established in 1968, Agricultural Engineering Science had two departments at first: plant and animal production. After the re-establishment of Sulaimani University in 1992, this college was one of the initial colleges that opened its doors for students on November 15th, 1992.
There were different types of motivations behind the reopening of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences. One of them is that the Kurdistan Region is basically an agricultural country with a vast area of arable land and adequate water resources. In addition, the region is capable of producing enough food to provide for its entire population. Therefore, training specialists in all fields of agriculture is of vital importance for the country.
