College of Education

New Campus

The College of Education was originally established in 1976, with its first graduating class in 1979-1980. On June 30, 2007, the college resumed admitting students based on Decision Number 209 from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government/Iraq.

Initially, in 2007, the College of Education had two departments: Physics and Mathematics. In 2014, two new departments were established, namely the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Biology. As a result, the college now has four departments. Students began their studies in the academic year 2007-2008, and since then, six graduation ceremonies have taken place at the college.

The aim of our college is to provide professional teachers for secondary schools. Students will be studying practical and theoretical aspects of their chosen subject, as well as studying teaching methods, psychology and as part of their final year.

The College vision is to equip competent educators to work successfully and ethically in a technologically advanced society. Unlike other college graduates, the graduates of the College of Education are fully prepared in terms of science and education to serve education and science in schools. We work to develop learning environments and new teaching methods and adapt them to the new era. The College of Education creates instructional standards based on current best practices as defined by state, national, and international organizations.

The College of Education aims to develop effective teachers who can lead to successful teaching and learning outcomes in a variety of settings. These teachers must possess a range of effective pedagogical skills developed through field experience. Both basic and advanced-level programs support this goal, which in turn supports the university’s mission.
