Humanities

Following the re-open of University of Sulaimani in 1992 ,it consisted of four colleges ,including college of languages ,it consisted of the following Departments ( Kurdish ,Arabic and English), the Islamic studies dep. was opened in academic year 1993-1994 and geography dep. In 1997, the college name was changed into Humanity Studies that year too.

Both dep. (history and sociology) was opened in 1998-1999. Due to the college expansion it was divided into college of languages and college of humanities, the media dep. was opened in the same year, also the archeology dep. was opened for the academic year 2013-2014, the social service dep will be opened in the academic year 2014-2015. Currently the college (school) consists of the following dep. (history\ geography\ sociology\ media\ archeology and social service) as for the Islamic studies dep. it is currently apart of Islamic sciences college since 2013.

It is worthy to mention that the college succeeded to provide developed staff (specialists and academic members) in all above-mentioned specializations.

The College Humanities aims to improve and create outstanding programs in the fields of the humanities. The College Humanities supports the university’s general education curriculum and specialized programs, encouraging global engagement and ethical leadership.  Its varied and skillful faculty promote scholarly, creative, and service activities consistent with the College's academic and professional strengths.

Mission

The mission of the College of Humanities is to serve as a vital part of the University of Sulaimani and a wider society. Our college works to assist students in their quest for perfection and eternal life, as well as serve society. To this end, college of Humanities seeks to develop students of faith, intellect, and character who have the skills and the desire to continue learning and to serve others throughout their lives after graduation. Both those who teach in the lectures and those who direct activities outside the classes are responsible for contributing to this complete educational mission.
