University of Sulaimani’s President painstakingly convenes Gender and Violence Studies Centre to discuss tailor-made ends
[email protected] In a private meeting, Dr. Salahadeen Saeed, the president of the University of Sulaimani, and Gender and Violence Studies Centre discussed the long-term ends of the centre. Many essential notions were extensively exchanged during the meeting and subsequently the convenees articulated the consecutive objectives of the centre, which include: conducting scientific researches, printing and publications, and various conferences and activities. Moreover, the principles of the execution were also set.
Gender and Violence Studies Centre is an academic centre established in 2011 with funding provided by the UK Government’s Department for International Development.
The centre works on gender-based issues and has many notable local and international members. One of the vital achievements of the centre was preparing a curriculum on gender studies which became an indispensable syllabus of the department of Sociology at University of Sulaimani. Additionally, the members of the centre held many custom-made, international conferences at European universities and British Parliament. Recently, the centre has conducted a sociological research which is going to be published in (European Journal of Comparative Law and Governance).
