The University of Sulaimani has achieved a groundbreaking accomplishment, securing the top position among the Iraqi universities in the prestigious World University Rankings (WUR) by Times Higher Education (THE).
Out of the 21 Iraqi universities that qualified for the rankings, The University of Sulaimani stood out, meeting all the rigorous eligibility criteria set by THE. In contrast, 58 other participating institutions were designated as “Reporter” universities, meaning they did not meet the full requirements set by THE.
Times Higher Education, along with the Shanghai Rankings and QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), is considered one of the top three global university ranking organizations. The World University Rankings, widely recognized as one of the most influential and comprehensive assessments, evaluates universities based on the following key performance indicators.
Despite this being the University of Sulaimani’s first time participating in the World University Rankings, it has impressively claimed the top spot, emerging as the leading university across Iraq. This remarkable achievement is a source of immense pride for the university’s faculty, students, the entire community of Sulaymaniyah, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
