Directorate of International Academic Relations – University of Sulaimani
The Directorate of International Academic Relations at the University of Sulaimani is dedicated to managing and expanding the university’s international connections. Its duties include implementing the university’s international strategy, coordinating international projects and programs, and facilitating student and faculty exchanges to enrich the university community and broader society. The Directorate is comprised of the following departments: International Relations, Erasmus and International Mobilities, and University and Community Coordination.
With a team of experienced staff, the Directorate supports students, faculty, and administrative staff studying abroad or willing to pursue postgraduate studies at international universities, by providing guidance and assistance with study permit procedures. It also assists international students and scholars coming to the University of Sulaimani, whether for degree programs, short-term exchanges, or research collaborations. Additionally, the Directorate coordinates visits from international delegations and works with universities worldwide to establish academic and research partnerships, sign memoranda of understanding, and implement joint initiatives. The Directorate also issues support letters in different languages for students and staff, intended for national and international institutions, consulates, and embassies, and verifies the authenticity of official university documents and certificates. As the top-ranked university in Iraq according to the 2024 Times Higher Education World Rankings, the University of Sulaimani has established over 100 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with institutions worldwide. Several international projects, including those under the European Union Erasmus program, have been successfully implemented, greatly benefiting both the university community and the society.
