The first professional medical lab (Skill Lab) opened at the UoS, Faculty of Medicine. This is a unique lab of its type in the whole Iraq and Kurdistan Region, on the 8/8/2015, The (Medical Profession) Lab opened by the Minister of Higher Education Professor Yousif Goran, the President of University of Sulaimani Professor Salahadin Ali, and the Head of Medical School Dr. Ari Sami in the presence of lecturers and Media.
 
It aims to be dedicating for training of medical students. However, the lab consists of 7 sections, while in each department the supervision and monitoring of disease types can be performed in a professional and an advanced way, because there are many dolls (Prototype) in this lab which have the senses of human beings and different disease scenarios that can be applied on them, which is managed by advanced devices and software. In this way students can train the best possible way without real patients. The skill lab is designed for small group teaching (6-8 students) for medical and nursing students, which is also use to open training courses and workshops for the doctors in different specialties such as: ATLS and ACLS courses.
 
 
 
The Skill lab consists of 7 labs, administration office and a Hall. 
 
Lab1: Smart manikin patient simulator takes ALS(Advanced life support) training into the students’ environment. Instructors (mentor) can evaluate student knowledge, skill levels, and critical thinking abilities by utilizing the applications via the iPad. Student performance records can be transferred to a computer, and chronological scenario event logs can be printed.  This  manikin shows: spontaneous breathing, pulses, blood pressure, carotid and femoral pulses, normal and emergent heart and lung sounds, 12 pulse points synchronized with the heart, EKG interpretation and cardiac treatment, IV catheterization and infusion, tension pneumothorax treatment, chest tube insertion with simulated drainage, and advanced difficult airway maintenance. 
 
 
Lab2: Manikin with different heart sounds and cardiac dysrhythmias also different lung sounds and it can be used for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
 
Lab3: Manikin with different heart sounds and cardiac dysrhythmias also different lung sounds and it's for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. Lab3 also contains upper and lower limbs for suturing 
 
 
Lab4: Manikin with different heart sounds and cardiac dysrhythmias also different lung sounds and it's for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. Lab4 also contains body parts for different bed side procedures like (digital per rectal examination, breast examination and male catheterization simulator)
 
 
Lab5: Smart Baby Manikin, It mimics an infant with different heart and lungs sounds also we can do different scenarios for the students during clinical courses and the OSCE Exam. Lab 5 also contains an infant for lumber puncture procedure 
Lab6: female abdomen and pelvis for gynecological and obstetric bedside procedures
Lab7: A pregnant lady manikin simulates normal labour or cesarean section for training on labour complications and their managements.
Administration office: contains control and cameras (CCTV) for all the labs  
A Hall for 30 students
All the labs and the Hall supplied by internet and data show so the Instructors (teachers) can demonstrate different videos to the students during the training courses.
