On the occasion of May 1st, International Workers’ Day, the Presidency of University of Sulaimani has sent a congratulatory message to all workers in the world in general and Kurdistan workers in particular.
World Labor Day dates back to April 21, 1856 and the idea originated in Australia and later reached the United States. First it was introduced in the first of May as Labor Day in 1882 in New York City. After that the event was introduced to the rest of the world. On that day, they rewarded and honored their skilled workers.
The origin of the holiday is due to the outbreak of conflicts, when workers began massive protests against employers and went on strike demanding to reduce working hours to 8 hours, these protests spread to other cities in the United States and Canada It was then declared Labor Day by the US Congress and the idea spread to other countries.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Presidency of University of Sulaimani and the University Council, we congratulate all workers in the world in general and Kurdistan in particular. We urge the relevant authorities to serve the working class and ensure their rights through important laws and decisions.
congratulations again.
