On September 13th, 2023, under the supervision of the University's president, and with the presence of archaeologists, lecturers, and several prominent figures of Sulaymaniyah the Western Zagros Conference has been held that lasts for two days. The event is arranged in collaboration of Sapienza University from Italy and the Directorate of Culture and Archaeology.  In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. KosarMohammed, the university president stated the significance of archaeology in the development of nations across the globe. He asserted the urgent need for careful archaeological investigations from the guests in order to advance tourism in Kurdistan. In later parts of the conference, some of the guests expressed their thoughts about the event.
