On December 9, 2025, Professor Dr. Kosar Mohammed Ali, President of the University of Sulaimani, received Ammar Hakim, Leader of the Hikma Movement, accompanied by a delegation. The meeting, attended by university vice presidents, council members, and political officials, fostered dialogue aimed at strengthening ties between the University of Sulaimani and the Hikma Institute.
Dr. Kosar highlighted the university’s recent distinction as the highest-ranked institution in Iraq and Kurdistan, according to the Times Higher Education rankings, placing it in the 100-1200 range globally. He attributed this achievement to the concerted efforts of the university council, faculty, staff, and students.
The discussion also centered on the university’s thriving international collaborations, particularly with institutions in southern and central Iraq, such as those in Baghdad, Wasit, Karbala, Babylon, and Kufa. Dr. Kosar expressed enthusiasm about expanding these partnerships further.
Ammar Hakim praised the university’s accomplishments and its pivotal role in Iraq’s academic landscape.
