University of Sulaimani Initiates Strategic Course for Young Leaders’ Development

The Career Development Center at the University of Sulaimani has launched a comprehensive, year-long course aimed at fostering the development of young leaders. A total of 25 students, selected primarily from the second and third-year cohorts across various colleges of the University of Sulaimani, are participating in the program, with a majority representing second-year students.
The course curriculum encompasses 19 specialized classes designed to enhance leadership competencies. Key topics include Leadership Protocols and Etiquette, Effective Communication Skills, Public Speaking and Presentation Skills, Management and Innovation, Principles of Project Management, and Negotiation Skills for Leaders, among others. These classes are delivered by expert tutors with specialized knowledge in their respective fields.
The inaugural lecture, titled Protocol and Etiquette in Leadership, was delivered on January 29, 2025, by Mr. Akar Azad Jalal, Head of Protocol for the Vice President of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The session took place at the Career Development Center of the University of Sulaimani.
Commenting on the significance of the course, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ala Omar Barzinji, Director of the Career Development Center, stated: “The importance of this course lies in its role in preparing young leaders from different colleges and fields at the University of Sulaimani. Our goal is to equip them with the skills necessary to become future leaders who can inspire their peers and contribute to progress across diverse sectors.”
