After the successful completion of the requirements of the IKRUPP program, participants from the University of Sulaimani resumed their official duties on the 23rd, Aug, 2015. Participants were:

·         Dr. Hoshang Faruq Jawad, Assistant prof. School of Basic Education, English Department.

 

·         Dr. Shilan Ali Hama Sur, Instructor. School of Languages, English Department and Director of the University's Language Center.

 

·         Avan Kamal Aziz, Assistant Instructor. School of Basic Education, English Department.

 

IKRUPP is designed to create vital connections to the global academic community and to provide capacity-building opportunities for administrators and faculty, promoting higher-education reform in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

 

The program is run in partnership with IREX and is funded from the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, the program provided technical assistance to strengthen university administration, reform English language curricula, and enhance instructional methods in English departments.

 

The program created opportunities for the participants to develop leadership skills and improved their instruction by learning to utilize student-centered and problem-based teaching methods.

 

Deliverables:

A pre-conference workshop in February 2014 in Erbil, Kurdistan.

86 contact hours of instruction between February 6 and August 14, 2015 on 'adult learning, technology in the classroom, using on-line teaching resources, language learning strategies, action research, and using social media for teaching and professional development

Capstone experience with action research final project presentations, portfolio and Trainer of Trainers (TOT) project.
